Burnout is not new, but 2025 was the first year I coached multiple clients who self-identified as being in burnout recovery. Burnout feels like a temporary dead end on the highway, and it has me wondering how we can access other off ramps sooner. Here’s what I’m learning about trauma, resource weaving, and full moons.
Everyone’s experience is different
Trauma-informed coaching sees the possibility that what you’ve been through has changed you – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually. It acknowledges that we carry imprints with us. We don’t understand the human experience well enough to know why the same event imprints people differently, but we know that it can. Knowing that, we can acknowledge that two individuals in the same work environment can have very different experiences, and we can support and honour each.
Enter resource weaving
Resource management doesn’t feel quite right. Yes, we manage resources, but we also weave them – back and forth with ourselves and others. The same $50 can perform in many ways depending how it is woven; the same number of words in an email, too. The real question is, what resources do we have to work with and how best can we weave them together? Especially where our trauma sticks, what supportive resources can we weave right there?
Full moons too
If it combines ancient wisdom, poetry, science and psychology, then turns out – it is the language of soul. So, for a quick astrology moment, this month’s full moon is in Gemini. Talkative, curious, enigmatic, Gemini full moons shine the light on communication and intellectual pursuits. It’s activating all the mutable signs – the ones that are comfortable letting one thing become another. This full moon illuminates opportunities for change and evolution.
Finding the off ramps
If you’re experiencing burnout, I would like to look you in the eye and acknowledge that everyone’s journey in and through will be different and challenging. This post is simple because blog posts are simple, meanwhile burnout can be complicated. Getting support helps.
For each person already in burnout, there are ten more who are closer than they think. For those who are well down the highway of overwork and exhaustion and mental clutter and perfectionism, but not at the dead end yet, off ramps are needed. The resource weaving off ramp is one, where you pause and consider, how can I weave these resources differently, more gently, more beautifully? The full moon off ramp is another, where you can charge up on meaning and wonder. There are off ramps and fueling stations for all kinds of things, the question is which ones will work for you. Whatever you need now, I hope you can get to that off ramp – and access that fuelling station – as soon as possible.
I’m cheering you on.
